First UN Voluntary Fund for Women

The UN establishes a Voluntary Fund for the UN-Decade for Women – VFDW (by UN Resolution 31/133 of 16 December 1976). From 1984-1985 the Fund is renamed to UNIFEM by UN-Resolution A/RES/39/125 and becomes an unlimited United Nations Development Programme – UNDP. It has its seat in New York and receives funding from voluntary donations.
